A seminar on Mother Tongue participated and organized by College of Liberal Arts and Teacher Education was held on August, 13 at the AVR.

Mrs. Helen E. Tolete, a teacher of Filipino and HED faculty, was the guest speaker of the seminar. Her discussion centered on MTB-MLE, known as Mother Tongue Based- Multilingual Education.

She explained that when a topic is about language, it is also a topic of learning. She also shared some facts about the languages spoken here in Philippines and explained why MTB-MLE is part of the solution to problems posed by the K to 12. Based on the presentation of Mrs. Tolete, mother tongue was defined as the first language that we have learned and spoken at home.

The study of DepEd Region IV-B entitled “Double Exposure in Mathematics: A Glimpse of Mother tongue First” showed that applying the MTB-MLE was helpful to students in that particular area where the study took place.

The seminar ended by the giving of certificate to the guest speaker by Dr. Arcelita Llanora, Dean of COTED, Liberal Arts, and Psychology. The participants of the seminar also have their certificate provided by the organizers of the event.
