Lit aloud: students bout in Balagtasan 2015

Wearing their national costumes, participants walked inside the hall which served as their introductory entrance. Afterwards, Ms. Aireen Alvarico, officer of TNB discussed the criteria for judging of the competition.

Tanglaw ng Bayan organized Balagtasan 2015 which was part of the celebration of “Buwan ng Wika” held on August 14 at the Hermana Fausta Hall.

Balagtasan championship was up for grabs by students with Filipino 103 class. Each group was given the freedom to choose a topic which was about government, love, and family.

Group number 9 bagged gold with their topic: “Sino ang handa mong pakasalan, taong mahal mo ngunit hindi ka mahal o taong mahal ka di mo naman mahal?” The group was composed of Daicerie Cambalon, John Christian Forbes, Gianne Lavarro, Karen Habito, Jan Kristian Bisagas, Liza May Anilao, and Adysa Joyce Revilla.

Claiming silver and bronze were Group number 8 ( Joy Dudas, Lee Robin Abella, Lovelle Labasan, Mariel Ganacan, Christian Jay Amoloza, Rey Ann Joy Braga, Jhoanna Mansayon) with their theme about “Dapat bang pagbigyan ang magulang na makapagtapos muna ng pag-aaral bago mag-asawa?”, and Group number 1 (Sandra Subaan, Jennelyn Aguila, Jessa Pastorfide, Diane Katlyn Peralta, Eden Aranilla, Edlyn Go, Joymee Orolla, Almira Del Mundo and Jessrene Luna) with their topic: “Dapat ba o hindi dapat manligaw ang babae?”, respectively.

Other winners were Jonegi Alviso for the “Dagliang Talumpati”, and Maricel Serrano, who won by default, for the “Handang Talumpati”.

“Gayang-gaya! Siyang-siya!” (GGSS) champion Roxanne Lopez, from the College of Teacher Education, belted out her winning song piece in an intermission number. Lopez was earlier seen making an impression of Filipino soul music singer Maria Luisa Ramsey, mononymously known as Jaya, during her GGSS performance.

Mrs. Amalia Sayas, a teacher from Gulang-gulang National High School, Mrs. Joveline Aranas, IBED teacher, and Mr. Marlon Rosales, a Religious Education teacher of SHC, served as the judges for the said event.
