Lucena City Mayor Roderick “Don-Don” Alcala sponsored a friendly basketball game for the College Varsity, Personnel, Faculty and Alumni of Sacred Heart College on August 14 at the covered court.

Mayor Alcala initiated this activity to uplift the camaraderie among the Cordians. He stressed that “Ito pong activity na ito ay part ng ating Program sa Alumni Homecoming. Ito po ay para sa ating mga Cordians from different levels, para sila ay magkakila kilala, makapaglaro, para yu’ng camaraderie ay mapayaman.”

SHC faculty and personnel team up against the SHC Alumni from the Batch ‘96 and ‘80. Also playing with the SHC Alumni was the College Varsity Team.

Participants were overwhelmed and thankful for the big opportunity to play with the Alumni especially with The Mayor of Lucena City. Mr. Matias Soriano, MIS/ IT Director said that he is glad to be a part of this friendly game and took it as a great opportunity to play with the Mayor. He agreed that this activity is an effective way to build companionship among the Cordians. “Yes, I agree with what Mayor said, kasi nakita naman isang patawag lang sa mga personnel at faculty pati narin students, punta agad so isang sign agad ng pag-build ng camaraderie sa mga Kordeano,” he added.

On a final note, Mr. Soriano said, “Hindi naman namin habol ang manalo kundi yung relationship at yu’ng break. Kaya kahit natalo, deep inside panalo pa rin.”

The first ever friendly Game took its initial run last Saturday, August 9, with Batch ’96 versus SHC Personnel and Faculty. It is expected to end until tomorrow, August 15, 2014.
